InkandVoice Column chosen for DeFinis Communications’ “Top Presentation Strategies for Women” Blog Carnival.

Columbia MO/ July 16, 2011 – “Where is your Mommy Voice,” David Rosman’s business communication column published at InkandVice.com, has been selected for DeFinis Communications’ “Top Presentation Strategies for Women” Blog Carnival.

DeFinis Communications’ blog carnival is a compilation of blog posts from numerous authors on a given topic that are housed on the company’s blog. It is a great way for readers to discover new blogs and develop new professional relationships. It is also a great way for bloggers to gain new fans, recognize each other’s efforts, receive links to their sites, and improve the general quality of the blogosphere.

By bringing single-issue opinions and advice from multiple professionals in a specific field answering a specific question, the reader can get a clearer overview of this one subject without the hassle of more research. In terms of public speaking, those opinions cover a wide array.

“Mommy’s Voice” is a discussion of Type A (masculine) and Type B (feminine) speaking patterns, with an emphasis on gaining a more assertive argument position for Type B speakers. Though Type B speakers are typically women, there are men who fall into this category, so this is not wholly a gender issue.

Rosman opens his discussion with the four basic “voices” in our lives; our happy voice, which is a bit higher in pitch; our intimate voice which is close to if not a whisper; our angry voice, and; what Rosman calls the assertive Mommy Voice. However, many women seem to lose this voice especially when giving a persuasion presentation.

Rosman defines the “Mommy Voice” (or “Daddy Voice”) as the pointing your finger while saying “this has to happen and has to happen now” voice.

The Type B speaker has a sense of cooperation the rather than competition and tend to lose their assertive voice, appearing afraid to tell the audience what they must do; they simple ask the audience to take action.
