A Christian Nation? An examination of Christian nation theories and proofs, is due for release on November 15, 2011.
A Christian Nation? does something other books concerning the religiosity of America do not. David asked for and received objective proofs from Christian nation advocates and examined each for its context, validity and if each proof is a positive justification for the various Christian nation theories stating that the United States was founded as a Christian nation.
Two major theories exist, both focused on the definition of “founding.” Rosman examines that history from the original colonization of the New World, the first “Founding,” through the signing of the Constitution, the second “Founding,” and continues through the beginnings of the 2012 presidential campaign.
Topics include the settlements of the Massachusetts bay Colony, four major court cases, documents, speeches, and journals from our Founding Fathers, treaties, and documents that today’s Christian nation advocates say “prove” their position. David also discusses the religions of the Founders and how belief differed from practice and politics.
David Rosman is an award winning editor, author and educator. David is a weekly commentator for the Columbia Missourian and for InkandVoice.com as well as a book reviewer for the New York Journal of Books. He teaches Communication and Communication Ethics, and has been politically active for more than 25-years, working as a campaign manager and advisor. His is considered by his peers as source for Church-State, and Secular versus Sectarian issues and has written extensively on religion in politics.
David Rosman is a noted speaker on the topics of politics and religion, and business and political communication. His newest presentation “Don’t think outside of the box – there is nothing there” has been highly praised. Says Cole Morgan of Kansas City, “David is dynamic, insightful, and full of information and energy.”
Nate Phelps, the son of Pastor Fred Phelps of the Westboro Baptist Church which gained infamy from their “God Hates Fags” protests at soldiers’ funerals around the United States, will be speaking at 2:00PM on Saturday. He is the seventh of thirteen children, and was taught his father’s extreme version of Calvinism from an early age.
Today Nate lives in Calgary, Alberta and works for the Center For Inquiry. He is a vocal LGBT advocate, and speaks out against the dangers of religion and child abuse.
He is currently working on a book which covers his exceptional story, and is the subject of an upcoming documentary film.
Darrel Ray, Ed.D. is by far one of the most entertaining speakers on the Secular humanist and atheist circuits. Dr. Ray is an organizational psychologist, consultant and author of four books including The God Virus: How Religion Infects Our Lives and Culture and Sex and God: How religion distorts sexuality . He is also founder of the organization Recovering from Religion. His doctorate is in counseling psychology from George Peabody College of Vanderbilt University (1978).
In May 2011, he along with Amanda Brown of Kansas University, completed a national survey of over 14,500 secularists that examines the effect leaving religion has on sexuality and sexual practices. The full report can be downloaded for free at ipcpress.com. A wide range of publications, blogs and journals wrote articles on the report including ABC News Health, The Daily Mail (UK), Harper’s Magazine, The New York Post, Playboy and many others.
